BOSTON WOMEN WIN CHALLENGE MATCH NEW
On May 3, 2008 the women of Boston WRFC travelled to Colorado for their challenge match against
Glendale at the gorgeous Infinity Park. We are very proud to announce they were victorious and beat
Glendale convincingly. This awesome result gives the Northeast four seeds at the 2008 USA
National sweet 16's later in 2008!. More than any territory.

NORTHEAST SENIOR SQUAD SELECTIONS NEW
The NORTHEAST Coaching Staff have selected 36 of 54 camp attendees to represent the Northeast
against Mid-Atlantic in the final selection venue prior to travelling to Pittsburgh on June 11th-15th for
the 2008 National All-Star Championship.
The squad that will represent the Northeast will ultimately come from this group of 35 athletes.
Depending on depth, the coaching staff will select between 24 and 28 players to travel to Pittsburgh.

NORTHEAST SELECTION CAMPS REPORT
54 Elite athletes from around the Northeast Union came to two selection camps. The first was
hosted at a beautiful complex in Bedford, Ma., the second was held in Monmouth, NJ at a gorgeous
grass field. Both camps were attended by some very committed and focused players that have
made the selection process very difficult for the staff. The full list of attendees can be seen on the
SENIOR XV page of this site.
USA NATIONAL SEVENS TEAM FOR AMSTERDAM NEW
Phaidra Knight (New York), Jo Ward (Albany), Ines Rodriguez (Keystone) and Tyshawn Henry (New
York) will make up a third of the 12 athlete squad representing the USA in the Amsterdam Sevens
from May 10-19th. They will also be joined by NRU Senior Coaches Chris Ryan and Drew Fautley.
NORTHEASTERN ELITE WINS HONG KONG 7's WITH USA
For the first time in 11 attempts, the USA National Sevens Team won the HONG KONG SEVENS
championship. In front a crowd estimated to be over 30,000 strong in Hong Kong Stadium, the USA
beat Canada by the score of 21-7. Four of the ten players that made up the squad were from the
Northeast, along with two of the coaches.
In the final, Tyshawn Henry (New York) was a strong force and Ines Rodriguez (Keystone) set up the
third and final try. New Yorks, Alison Price scored the second try and Amy Daniels (Beantown)
scored the final try after supporting Ines.

NRU ANNOUNCES NEW WOMEN'S VICE PRESIDENT

After a doing a fantastic job at the helm for many years, Lori Staples has decided to step down from
her position of administrating the Women's divisions within the Northeast. Thanks Lori for an
incredible job well done!
How do you replace a Lori Staples, that was going to be tough. After some arm twisting we are proud
to announce that long time Tournament Director of the New York Sevens, Jessa Giordano has got
the okay from her husband and infant son to take on the huge task. Jessa was a select side player
with the NRU Senior squad and a long-time New York rugby athlete that has been involved with
many administrative duties including; running the 2006 USA National Club Championship in
Disneyworld, the NY Sevens, NYRC Director, Club VP and Secretary. We welcome her and very
honored to have here fill the large shoes of Lori.

NORTHEAST CLUBS FINISHED STRONG IN 2007
Three of the four Division 1 clubs in the Northeast finished very strong in this years final competition.
Beantown moved up after a last minute semi-final win against Northeast rivals New York to play
Berkeley in the National Championship match and Keystone won the USA Plate Championship to
finish fifth in the nation. With Boston doing an awesome job rebuilding, 2008 is going to be a great
year for the Northeast Div. 1 clubs.

COACH CHRIS RYAN & NRU SEVENS WINS THIRD IN A ROW!!!!
Coach Chris "Pudge" Ryan has developed the strongest and deepest seven-a-side player pool in
the country. Going into this years National All-Star Sevens Championship, Coach Ryan was met with
late injuries and players not being available for numerous reasons. Due to the depth of the athletes,
he managed to rally his incredible team to win the third national championship in a row!...
